Wednesday, April 18th, Day 38

A stiff apology is a second insult. The injured party does not want to be compensated because he has been wronged; he wants to be healed because he has been hurt. -G.K. Chesterton, author (1874-1936)

Hello, all,

Please enjoy this short blog about a wonderful statue that I was able
to purchase in Tainan:

A fine find and well told.  Surely, this is a lucky omen. Dana

Hi, Corinne and Patrick!

I have the other option for you.
Corinne, do you remember that a director of my company has
an old folk house in Shiga prefecture?

Forgot to tell you, but we can go there if you want.

He and his wife might not be there, but he said that he can give us

a key to the house.

If his wife would be there, he said she can show you around.

The house is about 15 min. on foot from the nearest train station,

and from where it takes only 30 min. to from Kyoto by Shinkansen.
The location is close to Maibara station.
Close to Maibara, Hikone casstle is located, which is one of the
oldest original castles in Japan and has been designated a
National Treasure by the Japanese government.

Here is information about Shiga pref.

I guess you might get tired after travelling lots of places,
where spoken language is totally different.
So, if you want, we can change plans, especially of May 21 to 26,
depending on your interest and condition after arriving in Japan.

You have JAPAN Rail Pass, and it's really flexible and convenient!
The dates you would be in Japan are not crouded time of the year,
so you have no problem finding good places with reasonable price!

Hope you don't get confused by lots of information I give you.
I'm just too excited!! Love, Toshiko

P, Cannot gloze over these numbers, wind behind, wizard of oz, crocs:

The peloton was three yesterday for a few moments – almost overwhelming. Ray & I rode to Burnaby via Central Valley Greenway and met Mark who showed us around East Burnaby and thru New West. We returned on River Road – 3.5 hours on the post. By your time and space calculations that would be 333.33 kms.  You cannot gloze over these numbers.  And – the big news -- we actually had some wind behind us for a few moments – causing a rather odd and giddy sensation. This ended abruptly of course when the gods sensed our delight.

The croc photo that we received was rather ominous. We concluded, in spite of the satiated look on the beast, we should not be optimistic that you were swallowed.

Have you found the Wizard yet? Is the wine draining in the proper direction?

Winter weather prevails in the rainforest. We would accept a sympathetic and merciful blast of heat if you can arrange it.

Best wishes to all the road crew, W

Wayne's last rays of sunshine and beach time!!
