Sunday, April 29th, Day 49

That sorrow which is the harbinger of joy is preferable to the joy which is followed by sorrow. -Saadi, poet (c.1213-1291) [Gulistan]

At Nat's with Alex ...who is snarfing down their steak and eggs!!...YUM!!!!!!!!!

Hi Goils!

Thanks for updates and messages of love and assurance, Sisters! Just a few other details. Great snaps of Alex and Samantha and gang. Please pass along our best wishes to the Youngsters, Ayn. Chloe, don't worry about Medical Services invoice. Debit comes out of Mom's account every month, automatically. In the event that she does die before we return, Broadway Lodge should have all the details about her funeral. There should be a folder in our file cabinet. Not sure if it is top or bottom door. Should be under Memorial Society but you'll have to look through the folders. Might be with a number of other related files. Buona Fortuna.

Here is an update on last few days. Haven't had time to fill in many of the details but hope to do so when we are with Kathleen and Steve, if it comes to that. Will depend on what happens to Sharktooth Annie, of course, and what we decide, relative to that. We are off shortly to Litchfield Park, another, smaller National Park about 180K from Darwin. Hope to be able to swiim at Wangi Falls, Tolmer Falls and the Buley Rockholes. Cora Lee will go first to wrassle any grumpy salties, (salt water crocodiles) that might be around! Much warm love to you both, Mom and Dad!

Hi Pat,

I am sorry I haven't written to you for ages.  My friend, Myrtle, and I are arriving on Sunday 20th May at 11.15 a.m.  Is that a bank holiday weekend?  We will take a taxi from the airport to your home.  Could you please let me have your address?  Would it be possible for you to arrange for us to have the key?  Any information of good places to visit and maps would be much appreciated.  We will probably arrange to hire a car from this end.  Where would be a good place to collect it from?  Could you please let me have Chloe's email address and phone number?  I am looking forward to the trip.  When will you be away?  Penny tells me there is lots to see and do in Vancouver so we will spend a few days there.

Hoping to hear from you soon. Regards, June

Hi, wanted to send an update, sorry I didn't yesterday but was so tired just needed to go to bed.
Yesterday Grandma was very alert in the morning, made tons of eye contact and was even saying lots of words and smiling at me, in the afternoon she was having a hard time breathing and Les gave her a pill that Dr. Clarke had prescribed a water pill that will take the fluid from her lungs. The bad thing with the pill is that it is hard on the kidneys so they are trying to limit her fluids as they always go to her lungs. In the night they told me today that she had a temperature but it was gone when I got there, she is still on oxygen and has been trying to pull it out of her nose as I think it is probable annoying and causes her nose to dry out and hurt. They are applying Vaseline so that should help and stop her from pulling on the tube. Today she was far less alert and mostly slept but her oxygen saturation was good at about a 95 where it has been around 90 the last day or so but if she is taken off the oxygen it dips down to about the mid 80's.

Sorry if this is confusing its hard to explain but I guess there really has been no change it's back and forth so much, better then not.

I'm not sure if you have decided to come home or not and that's your choice to make but I want you to know you can stay you do not have to come home for me, I think Grandma will still be around for a long time to come.

Love you, hope your well, miss you and so does Mags. Chloe Alexis xxxxxxxxxxx

Litchfield

Hi Marcus Aurelius!

Enjoyed a great day at Litchfield National Park, about 150K from Darwin, yesterday. Rented a car and visited a number of the waterfalls and ppoints of intereset in the park. Not as rugged as Kakadu but terrific walks that Cora Lee, with her still troublesome right foot, could manage. Rock pools at Buley Rockholes were delightful, crystal clear water, more than refreshing with 30C+ temperatures! Bluetongue Lager went down well when we were back at our hotel! Hello to Peleton. Cheers, Il Conduttore!
