Grandma Dunn
Friday, April 27th
Left Kakadu at around 12;30pm to check back into the Darwin Central Hotel at 3:00pm. After I unloaded luggage onto a dolly, Cora Lee registered and I drove rental back to Advance. No damage so I was in our room, #219, a suite which boasts a sofa, kitchen drain board, microwave and an electric frying pan. Luxury! Sheer Luxury!!! Quick showers and change of clothes while sipping a cold Blue Tongue, (I had picked up a six-pack at Liquorland on way back from Advance), while Coa Lee enjoyed a ouple of glasses of Westhaven, WA, 2010 Sem/SB, 13.5%, $8, our house white! She had decided upon Mooorish Cafe, two blocks away, (recommended by Yien and others), so we strolled there, enjoying the incredible din of the lorikeets, flocking tot he large trees outside Ruby, arriving in V squadrons of six to eight birds, for as long as we watched.
Very nicely appointed and arranged space and although many tables one didn't feel at all uncomfortable.Chose from the tapas menu and decided upon wine by the glass so we could try a number of different offerings: Shaw & Smith, Adelaide Hills SB, $10/glass and the West Cape Howe, Denmark, WA, Sem/SB, $8.50, with the first three dishes, then the Howling Wolf, Marg Riv, Shiraz, $8 and the Pepperjack, Barossa, Shiraz, $10.50, with the remaining plates. Still felt a tad peckish, (food was so good), that we ordered the mushrooms and decided upon the Hayshed Hill, MR, 2009 Cabbage, 14%, $45, to make everything blend in. We'd had a fair bit to drink by then so I asked for another wine glass and when it arrived, poured a good drink into it and offered it to the guest of honour at the next table, a party of women out to say good bye to a work colleague who was moving to Western Australia. As it was her birthday as well, I lead the assembled company in a boisterous round of For She's a Jolly Good Fellow which seemed much appreciated by the table and the rest of the other diners as well!
Tapas Menu:
Pumpkin, onion, feta, pine nut salad; Slow-roasted tomatoe with goat's cheese/Parmesano; Grilled Chorizo; Local NT Banana prawns in paprika and coconut; Garlic and sumac lamb strips with beetroot tzatziki; Berber spiced kangaroo with tomatoe jam; Button mushrooms with with butter beans and fine herbs
Paid our bill and thanked our attentive and efficient waitresses, (one from Germany, one from Estonia), and toddled home to enjoy a bit of telly before brushing and flossing.

Hi,
Just got off the phone with Chloe. She asked me to write you a note.
She
called very upset…yesterday the lodge called and said Grandma Dunn was
short of breath so Chloe went to see her and held her hand for a bit and
she seemed ok.
Today
Dr. Clarke phoned Chloe and said that Grandma Dunn had a heart attack
so Chloe is on her way over to the lodge to see her. She has her phone
if you want to call her and she’ll update you after she’s been to see
Grandma. Love you both, Ayn
Just got up it is 8 am here in Darwin, Thanks for letting us know. Chloe we will phone you now.
Love mom
Love mom
Chloe is with Grandma now...Dr Clarke
is treating her with water pills for "wet lung" and told Chloe if she
is okay thru Sunday she should be out of the woods...however, her heart
rate remains erratic at the moment. The staff is keeping her comfortable.
Hi Goils!
Just talked to Chloe a little while ago, Ayn. You sound pretty good Chloe, so trust all will go as well as can be expected. As I mentioned on the phone, we are staying at the Darwin Central Hotel, Room #219: 61 8 8944 9000
Your Mom just told me she had already sent info but here is backup!
Will be leaving for Parap Market shortly and will try to find out about changing flights, etc., if things should come to that or if we decide to come back to Vancouver ahead of time, for whatever reasons. Still trying to sort out what we should do, given Mom's condition. I know she will probably not know me but have to determine if I should be back for a bedside vigil, or at least be close by, if in fact she overcomes this first heart attack. Much love to you both. Dad!
We're sending all love and big hugs with our hearts and thoughts surrounding Grandma Dunn
